Instruction and Reference Services

As you prepare your courses for the coming semester, please keep in mind that there are a number of ways in which library staff can help your students improve their information literacy skills.

Course Related Instruction

We are available and willing to provide course-related library instruction within the classroom environment or in the library. We will help your students to find information for a specific assignment or in a general subject area using our databases and the web.

Reference

We are more than happy to offer your students individual help at any stage of their research. Please encourage your students to ask a librarian for research assistance.

Library Course

We offer a full semester, three credit course in information literacy (WLLS 121: Research Tools and Skills) every semester. The course is designed to teach and strengthen lifelong research and information literacy skills. Students will learn how to develop and refine a research topic, the role of the library in the research process, how to cite sources responsibly, as well as, essential techniques for accessing, evaluating, organizing, and sharing informational results.

Library Research Guides

Our research guides are created to complement your assignments and help students find information independently. Research Guides direct students toward appropriate, subject based, resources and offer search tips for accessing the specific information that they need.
