Thursday, May 25

9:00AM – 9:15AM Workshop welcome and logistics
9:15AM – 12:00PM Designing and Assessment of Significant Sustainability Learning Experiences
This session will cover fundamental “Understanding by Design” principles:
- Education for Sustainability
- concept mapping
- developing appropriate student learning objectives
- “backwards course design” to assure students achieve learning objectives
- strategies to develop critical thinking skills
- pedagogical strategies for infusing sustainability content into courses; and
- assessment of sustainability learning

1:00PM – 5:00PM Examples from “The Trenches” – examples of sustainability content integration

Guided Tour of EcoVillage at Ithaca, Ithaca NY ($20 per person; must register in advance; 5 person minimum; travel on own)
