Can anyone audition for a show?
Do I have to major in theatre to take classes?
No — classes and auditions are open to all Wells students.
Do I have to audition for the major?
No — any student with the required GPA in our courses may declare a theatre major.
How many productions happen per year?
We produce two main stage productions annually. In addition there are student thesis productions, a student dance concert, and a performance art installation in the String Room Gallery.

Do students get a chance to choreograph or direct shows?
Yes! Abundant and diverse directing and choreography opportunities include: the directing and choreography courses, Senior Theatre and Dance thesis productions, and the Dance Collective student concert.
What musical ensembles are available?
Concert choir, jazz band, and chamber orchestra.
Do theatre majors have to write a thesis?
Theatre majors may choose either to write a thesis or to stage a live theatre production as their thesis project.
What kinds of internships are available in the performing arts?
Professional arts organizations across the country and abroad offer students real work experience, networking opportunities, and the possibility of employment through internships in arts management, stage management, office management, fundraising, design and technical theatre (lighting, sound, costume).
