What is a teach-out partner?

A "teach-out partner" is another educational institution that agrees to help continue and complete the educational programs for students from the closing school. When a college closes, it often arranges teach-out agreements with one or more institutions to ensure that current students can complete their studies without significant disruption. These partner institutions agree to provide similar academic programs, honor the credits students have already earned, and often try to maintain comparable tuition rates to assist students in finishing their degrees.

A reminder about financials

There are no application fees for our teach-out partners.

How To Request Your Transcript

  • An unofficial transcript is typically needed when applying to a school. This can be downloaded from the Globe.
    • Once logged in, you can find your transcript here. You will want to view/print the PDF version.
  • An official transcript is needed to officially enroll in a new school.
    • Once you apply to a teach-out school, your files will automatically be sent when they notify us.
    • Current students can request transcripts be sent to other schools not on the TO list by submitting this form.
    • Alumni and former students not enrolled at the time of closure can order from the National Student Clearinghouse at www.getmytranscript.com.

Teach-out Process

Step 1

You will receive a customized advising plan via email shortly. Your advisor will meet with you to review your academic standing including how many credits you've earned and how many credits you need to complete your degree.

Step 2

Start exploring our teach-out partners. Visit their transfer portal from the link of our teach-out page , get in touch with their admissions staff dedicated to welcoming you, and plan on speaking with their representatives at the transfer fair on campus. Narrow down your choices, submit their streamlined and free applications via the portal, and make arrangements to visit campuses. Your faculty advisor and transfer counselor at Wells are here to assist you, answer questions, and help you make an informed decision.

Step 3

Once you've submitted applications, the teach-out institution will reach out Wells to gather necessary documents.

Step 4

Be sure you have filed the FAFSA for the 2024-2025 academic year. Designate each of the colleges you’ve applied to as recipients of your FAFSA information using their CEEB codes (available on their web sites).

Step 5

Consider your options: meet again with your Wells transfer counselor, talk it over with your family, and make your decision!
