Important Dates and Deadlines

Important Dates, 2022-2023

Wells College observes several breaks throughout the academic year, and students should be aware of when the halls close. This page will be updated to reflect each upcoming break.

Arrival

Arrival for first year and transfer students is Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Arrival for upper-class students is Sunday, August 28, 2022. More information will be shared about arrival for fall athletes and orientation leaders.

Fall Break

Classes end for fall break at 4:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 7, 2022 and will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022. During fall break, the residence halls will remain open, but the dining hall will be closed.

Thanksgiving Break

Classes end for Thanksgiving break at 9:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022 and will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, 2022. During Thanksgiving break, students can request to remain over break, but the dining hall will be closed.

Final Exams and Winter Break

The last day of classes for the fall 2022 semester is Friday, Dec. 9. After a study period on the weekend of Dec. 10–11 2022, final exams run Monday, Dec. 12 through Friday, Dec. 16, 2021.  Residence halls will close for winter break at noon on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Spring Arrival

All students will arrive on Sunday, January 22, 2023. 

Spring Break

Classes end for spring break at 4:20 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2023 and will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023.  During spring break, students can request to remain over break, but the dining hall will be closed.

End-of-Year Closing

The last day of classes for the spring 2023 semester is Friday, May 5. After a study period on May 6-7, 2023, final exams run from Monday, May 8 through Friday, May 12, 2023; residence halls will close for all non-graduating students at noon on Saturday, May 13, 2023. Residence halls will close for all graduating students on Saturday, May 20, 2023 (the day of Commencement). For the end-of-year closing, students must completely move out of their rooms, removing all personal items.
