Arrival Process

On Thursday, Aug. 26, 2021, students and families should enter campus using the south entrance road and proceed uphill toward the Macmillan Hall parking circle. At the first checkpoint outside Pettibone House, all students, family members and guests will sign in and provide information about the vaccination status of each person in their party.

All new and returning Wells students will be tested upon arrival, and all individuals will be required to wear masks indoors — regardless of vaccination status. See below for more detailed information about COVID requirements. Families and guests will not be required to be tested, but we ask that students minimize the number of people in their party, and that all guests limit the amount of time they spend indoors while on campus.

Upon arriving on campus, students and families will proceed in their vehicle to the Macmillan Hall parking circle to begin the check-in process. Following check-in, students and families will be directed to their respective residence hall to unload belongings and begin orientation.

Students will be tested for COVID-19 at their residence hall using a non-invasive rapid antigen test that provides results within 15 minutes. Any student who tests positive will be given the option either to return home, or to be temporarily relocated to an isolation room in Dodge Hall.

Early Arrival for Student-Athletes

Student-athletes will return to campus early on Tuesday, Aug. 17, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Check-in will take place during these hours at Schwartz Athletic Center. 

IMPORTANT: testing requirements for student-athletes are different than for the general student population. All non-vaccinated student-athletes must also provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test conducted three to five days prior to their arrival.

All student-athletes will also be tested for COVID when they arrive on Aug. 17. For more details, please contact your coach, or contact Tara Ruckh, assistant director of athletics, at truckh@wells.edu.

Food Service on August 26

Snacks will be available for students and families during check-in at the Macmillan Hall parking circle.  Lunch will be provided in the dining hall for students through their meal plan, and guests can purchase lunch at the door for $9.00 per person.

What to Bring

Watch your mail for a separate notice in early August from the Office of Residence Life with housing contracts, details about what items you may bring, and other specifics related to the move-in process. If you have not signed your housing contract, please do so as soon as possible.
