Department of Campus Safety

EMERGENCIES: CALL 911

NON-EMERGENCY: 315.364.3229

Located in the Bellinzoni Building, adjacent to Main Building, the Department of Campus Safety is staffed by a team of professionals whose primary function is to work with the Wells community to provide for the security and safety at both on-campus and off-campus locations. The Department strives to achieve a balance between enforcement, education, and community expectations in our daily interactions with students, staff, and visitors to Wells College.

Our Campus Safety Officers are N.Y.S. Licensed Security Guards and have additional training in emergency procedures, First Aid, CPR, AED, and a wide variety of law enforcement and crisis intervention skills. Campus Safety Officers conduct foot and vehicular patrols of campus properties and residence halls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Department Campus Safety works to develop a strong rapport with the community through partnerships with students, staff, faculty, and various campus organizations to balance enforcement with community service. The Department also provides community-oriented policing initiatives with the goal of enhancing communication and interaction within the Wells Community.

Annual Security and Fire Safety Report

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1990, known informally as the Clery Act, all colleges and universities that receive federal financial aid funding from the U.S. government are required to publish a report by October 1 of each year regarding the previous year’s crime and fire statistics; the report must also include details on each college’s efforts regarding overall safety and security measures, and its efforts in preventing sexual assault, domestic violence, violence against women, and other types of violence.

The current year’s report may be found at the link below. Paper copies are available at no charge upon email request from the College’s Office of Campus Safety.
