Learning Commons

The Hagedorn Learning Commons is an active, informal space for students to study and collaborate, integrating technology and a variety of student support services.

The Learning Commons makes learning, experiencing, and improving simple for all our students...

by connecting members of the College community to the resources and services they need in a centralized and integrated service environment. The space features movable furniture and whiteboards in a comfortable, open area ideal for studying, meeting with other students, discussing coursework, and more. Located in the center of campus on the second floor of the Long Library, the Learning Commons also includes:

A new Instructional Classroom with 16 computer and a projector; when not in use, this space functions as a computer lab open to all students.

A Media Lab with space for students to practice the skills that they learn in the classroom and explore their creativity. This space holds four new Mac desktop computers, a MakerBot 3D printer, a large poster printer, and a photo printer.

The Office of Student Success, responsible for coordinating student peer tutoring services and overseeing the Writing Center, a place to brush up on your writing and editing skills or receive tips for both "getting started" and polishing up your papers.

The Center for Academic and Career Advising, your source for student employment information, internship experiences, and advice on finding a job after college, improving your resumé, and more. The office also coordinates guest speakers, resumé and interview workshops, networking dinners, and other events for students.

The Library's Research Help Desk, a place to find guidance on finding and identifying expert sources and navigating the broad selection of journals and scholarly texts available to students through the library system.
