Our success upon returning to campus in the fall will be a community-wide effort. We all have a responsibility to keep one another safe, and to protect the well-being of not just ourselves but our classmates, faculty and staff, and the local community.
Public events on-campus, including large events and venues, will be restricted or modified in accordance with public health guidance at the time of the event. Events usually scheduled in the fall semester that historically bring large numbers of external guests to campus (e.g., alumni reunion) will be planned as virtual events or rescheduled to a later date. Alternatives to continue community engagement such as remote gatherings will be developed insofar as possible.
Residential life is the heart of a student’s peer-group experience in a small, residential campus. The Office of Residence Life, together with the student Collegiate Cabinet governance organization and student clubs, will offer students numerous engagement activities that comply with social distancing requirements and are authorized by the College. Where appropriate, those activities will take place inside residential facilities. Non-authorized gatherings in the residence halls will not be allowed in order to minimize social contact that does not comply with use of face coverings and social distancing.
Wells has a number of traditions dating back over 100 years that bring students and the campus community together. To the extent possible, we will continue to carry-out tradition celebrating events, provided those can be held in compliance with social distancing, room capacity limits and the wearing of face coverings, as required.
