Areas of Study
An academic program in modern languages is a course of study that focuses on teaching students to become proficient in speaking, reading, and writing one or more modern languages. Students in this program will study the grammar, syntax, and vocabulary of the language(s) they are learning, as well as the culture and literature of the countries where the language(s) are spoken. They will also develop strong communication skills, both written and oral, in the language(s) they are studying. In addition to language skills, students will learn critical thinking and analytical skills through the study of literature, history, and cultural practices of the language’s speakers.
