Fall Break 2019 Info

The following information was sent to current students on Sept. 20, 2019.

Fall Break is quickly approaching! All classes end on Friday, October 4 at 4:20pm, and will resume on Wednesday, October 9 at 8:00am. All residence halls will remain OPEN for Fall Break 2019.

If students will be staying on-campus (including Fairlane) for any portion of fall break (spending the night on Oct. 4 or returning to campus before Oct. 8), they will need to register with the Office of Residence Life. Please note that any students found on campus during fall break who are not registered may be asked to leave, and will be subject to a fine.

Students may register online using this link:

Fall 2019 Break Registration >>

All registrations must be received by Monday, Sept. 30 by 4:30 p.m. [Note that this deadline was extended to Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 4:30 p.m.]

Leaving Campus

If a student is not staying on campus during fall break, students are requested to complete the following checklist for their room/apartment:

  1. Close and lock windows, and close window shades.
  2. Unplug all appliances and electrical devices in the room, including alarm clocks. (Refrigerators may remain plugged in.)
  3. Empty trash cans in the room.
  4. Remove all perishable/food items in the room.
  5. Turn off all lights.
  6. Lock the door.

Dining Services

During fall break, the Dining Hall and on-campus dining services will not be open or available for students staying. Any student staying on campus over fall break will be responsible for their own meals.

The last regular meal served in the Dining Hall (regular meal swipes) will be dinner on Friday, Oct. 4. Dinner will be regular hours that night, but Pizza315 will not be open.

Regular meal times will resume with dinner on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2019.

If there are any questions about the Dining Hall during fall break, please contact the Hallmark dining staff at hallmark@wells.edu.

For detailed information about transportation during fall break, please go to the Transportation section of the Wells Globe, located under the Students tab.

If you have questions regarding transportation, please email transportation@wells.edu. You may also call Campus Safety at 315.364.3321 or 315.364.3229.

Please follow the link below to request transportation services. When completing the form, please select the location, date and time from the list below, that you would like to be picked up. The locations, dates and times are limited to those listed below:

The following times are when the shuttle leaves Wells College for arrivals and departures:

Ithaca Bus/Airport, Syracuse Bus/Airport, Rochester Airport:
7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Please schedule your departure/return to these locations as close to the departure time of the shuttle. The shuttle will not be waiting at the airport/bus station for arrivals. It will pick up students that are already at the location and then leave. Consider the travel time for the shuttles. It takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to reach either Rochester or Syracuse from the time the shuttle departs campus. Make your request reasonable*.

Example: For the last shuttle of the day (7:30 p.m.) the arrival time in Rochester or Syracuse will be approximately 8:45 p.m. You should fly into the airports no later than 9:00 p.m. Anything later than that, you must contact Transportation and gain permission before you buy your ticket. A ticket bought before you contact Transportation will NOT guarantee transportation to the college at which time you will be responsible for getting yourself back to campus.

*Any transportation request outside of the posted dates and times will be denied. Failure to schedule transportation by the deadline, or showing up without a reservation, will result in a fine and/or suspension of transportation services for the rest of the semester!
