Sustainability Perspectives series: A Virginia Master Gardener’s Perspective: A Model for Public Education on Environmentally Sound Horticulture Practices

Monday, October 16 12:20pm - 1:30pm

Fairfax County VA is among the largest county municipalities in the U.S., yet has but one cooperative extension agent who is the local connection to Virginia's two land-grant universities. The Green Spring Gardens Master Gardener Program is one of several volunteer outreach groups that are the boots on the ground for the county cooperative extension office in bringing educational programs and information to the citizens of the Commonwealth through presentations and activities focused on horticultural and environmental “best practices”. Nancy Tillinghast '69 will discuss the Master Gardener Program and its impact upon the local community.
