UPDATE: Wells College CLOSED on Monday, Dec. 2

December 1, 2019
Please use caution if you are returning to Aurora from the holiday break.

UPDATE (Sunday, 1 p.m.):
Wells College will be CLOSED on Monday, Dec. 2, and classes are canceled for the day. Stay safe, everyone!

As you are likely aware, the entire Northeast U.S. is experiencing the beginning of a multi-phase winter storm. This morning brought a coat of ice to the Central New York region, with significant snowfall of 8 to 12 inches expected later today and tonight.

In Aurora, snow will be mixed with sleet and freezing rain until early evening, with the heaviest snow expected between 7 p.m. Sunday and 7 a.m. Monday. If you are traveling back to the area today, please use your best judgment. In some cases, it may be safer for you to wait out the storm where you are, rather than head into the storm's path. The safety of our community members is our highest priority, and students who choose to delay returning to campus will not be penalized.

Buildings & Grounds staff have been working to treat campus roadways and pathways as quickly as possible, but please note that icy conditions are expected to remain an issue for the next 24 hours.

For students who have requested Wells College transportation shuttles from Ithaca, Rochester or Syracuse: if your travel plans have changed, please send an email to transportation@wells.edu.

We will continue to monitor the storm throughout the evening and will send further updates as necessary. If you need assistance, please contact Campus Safety at 315.364.3229 or dial 911 in case of emergency.

Our mission is for every student to think critically, reason wisely and act humanely as they cultivate meaningful lives. On our beautiful lakeside campus, students gain the knowledge, skills and experience to create their own unique path.
