Important Information Regarding Fall Break 2017

Please see below for important details and deadlines related to housing, transportation, and dining services for fall break.

Fall break is quickly approaching! All classes end on Friday, October 6 at 4:20 p.m., and resume on Wednesday, October 11, at 8:00 a.m. All residence halls will remain open throughout fall break.


If students will be staying on campus (or in Mandell or Fairlane) for any portion of fall break — in other words, remaining after October 6 or returning before October 10 — they must register with the Office of Residence Life by no later than Wednesday, October 4 at 4:30 p.m.

Fall 2017 Break Registration

Please note that any students found on campus during Fall Break who are not registered may be asked to leave, and will be subject to a fine.

Leaving Campus

Those who are not staying on campus during fall break should review the following checklist prior to departure:

  1. Close and lock windows, and close window shades.
  2. Unplug all appliances and electrical devices in the room, including alarm clocks. (Refrigerators may remain plugged in.)
  3. Empty trash cans in the room.
  4. Remove all perishables and food items from the room.
  5. Turn off all lights.
  6. Lock the door.

Dining Services

During fall break, the Dining Hall and on-campus dining services will not be open or available for students staying on campus. Students remaining on campus during fall break will be responsible for their own meals.  

The last regular meal served in the Dining Hall (via regular “meal swipes”) will be dinner on Friday, October 6. Regular meal times will resume with dinner on Tuesday, October 10.

Students needing College-provided transportation must fill out a request form by no later than Monday, October 2. To access the form, and for more information about transportation during Fall Break, please go to the Transportation section of the Wells Globe (

Transportation will be provided from campus to the destinations listed below on Thursday, October 5 and Friday, October 6. Return transportation to campus will occur on Tuesday, October 10 and Wednesday, October 11.

Bus station and Ithaca–Tompkins Regional Airport
7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.

Walsh Regional Transportation Center (bus station) and Syracuse Hancock International Airport
7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., and 3:30 p.m.

Greater Rochester International Airport only
9:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m.

Please note that the times listed above are when the Wells shuttle departs from campus, so please plan accordingly.
