The Wells College Theatre and Dance Department is pleased to announce that the fall production, "Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Suicide Club" earned the following awards from the professional adjudicator for the Theatre Association of New York State (TANYS):
The Theatre and Dance department presented "Sherlock Holmes and the Adventure of the Suicide Club" during the College's Friends and Family Weekend in October, drawing an audience of over 400 people. Director Siouxsie Easter worked with a cast of approximately twenty student actors from all disciplines and classes, and with a stage crew made up of both students experienced in technical theatre and those new to the field. Seniors Casey Jamieson and Gloria Franco each contributed captivating and entertaining performances in the roles of Sherlock Holmes and the Club Secretary.
The awards were presented formally at the annual TANYS festival banquet, held Saturday, November 22, in Auburn, N.Y. The award designation of "Meritorious Achievement" indicates advanced theatrical skill; "Excellence" for a theatrical skill base not routinely noted in non-professional theatre; and "Outstanding Achievement" for a theatrical skill base rarely seen in non-professional theatre.
Congratulations to all who were involved in this ambitious and successful show!
