Wells College and the Wells College Association of Alumnae and Alumni (WCA) present the Inaugural Lisa Marsh Ryerson ’81 Outstanding Achievement Awards. The awards will be given and their recipients honored during Alumni Weekend, Saturday, September 27. The first three alumnae chosen for the award are:
Laurie Munroe Abkemeier ’92, book editor, literary agent, and creator of the publishing advice app Agent Obvious. Her career has included work on five New York Times bestsellers; representation of more than fifty journalists, bloggers, poets, academics, and artists; and negotiation of film and television deals.
Crystal Purcell Cosentino ’98, chief compliance and operations director at Home HeadQuarters, a housing development organization dedicated to revitalizing neighborhoods in Central New York. She has received a Women of Distinction Award given by the Seven Lakes Girl Scouts Council.
Keela Dates Grimmette ’06, founder and CEO of Reason2Smile, a nonprofit organization providing education and housing for orphaned or at-risk children abroad. Reason2Smile supports the Jambo Jipya academy and Children’s Home in Mtwapa, Kenya, and AMAF Primary and Secondary School in Nairobi.
This year marks the 140th anniversary of alumnae and alumni organized in support of their alma mater. The WCA is proud to partner with the College to include the introduction of the Ryerson Outstanding Achievement Award among the year-long celebrations of this exciting milestone. Special thanks to the Ryerson Award Committee members for making this ceremony a success.
