Immediately after receiving your acceptance letter...

ACCEPT YOUR OFFER OF ADMISSION BY SUBMITTING YOUR ENROLLMENT DEPOSIT: Your enrollment deposit secures your place in the upcoming term, and gives you priority consideration for campus housing assignments and access to early class registration. This $300 non-refundable deposit will be credited towards your semester bill. You can pay the deposit online through your Status Page in the "Payment Due" section:

SUBMIT YOUR FAFSA. We encourage all students to submit a completed FAFSA to Wells, regardless of financial need. Your FAFSA helps us determine additional financial aid packages and scholarships you may be eligible for.

ACCEPT YOUR FINANCIAL AID PACKAGE. Review your Financial Aid Award Letter and accept your awards by logging into your Status Page. The Financial Aid Team is always happy to answer your questions! Contact them through email or call 315-364-3289.

VISIT CAMPUS. Even if you've already been to our beautiful lakeside campus, come back and sit in on a class or spend a night in a residence hall. Experience college living firsthand!

Financial Aid Quick Start

GET YOUR FSA ID.
Create your unique FSA ID here. In addition to  students having a unique FSA ID, parents should also create their own unique ID.  The FSA ID provides you with a username and password that will give you access to all of the U.S. Department of Education’s consumer-facing websites, such as StudentLoans.gov, National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), and My Federal Student Aid.  You will need your FSA ID to complete the FAFSA.

COMPLETE AND SUBMIT YOUR FAFSA.

COMPLETE THE STUDENT DIRECT LOAN APPLICATION.

  1. Go to StudentLoans.gov
  2. Log in using your FSA ID
  3. Click on Complete Counseling (Entrance, Financial Awareness, Exit). Entrance counseling is required for all first-time borrowers.
  4. Choose Entrance Counseling and complete all sections
  5. Complete the Direct Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN)
  6. Sign, date, and return one copy of your Financial Aid Award Letter to the Financial Aid Office. Your signed award letter gives us permission to process your federal loans on your behalf.

FILE FOR THE FEDERAL DIRECT PLUS LOAN PROGRAM.

  1. Go to StudentLoans.gov
  2. Log in using your FSA ID
  3. Choose Apply for a Direct PLUS Loan
  4. Complete Direct PLUS Loan Application for Parents to initiate the credit check. Complete all sections.
  5. The credit check will remain active for 90 days only. Another check will be performed if the loan application is certified by the College after 90 days has lapsed. If approved, complete the Direct PLUS Master Promissory Note (MPN).

After Submitting Your Deposit...

JANUARY-MAY

  • Complete and submit required paperwork. These documents help us better prepare for your arrival on campus. Access and complete these forms on your Status Page.

MARCH-APRIL

  • Watch your inbox for invitations to exclusive campus events for admitted students! These events will give you a chance to take mock classes, speak with Financial Aid advisors, stay on campus overnight, chat with professors and current students, participate in campus life activities, and make friends with other admitted students who may become your classmates! 

MAY

  • Get acquainted with the Globe. The Globe at Wells is a convenient portal where you can access student-only information from the College and also take important action, such as sign up for classes. Using the Globe, you can review your financial aid package (if applicable) and check out which classes are available.
  • Pre-register for classes. Line up classes for your first semester in college! Register for classes on the Globe. More details will be available.

JUNE

  • Submit all required forms, such as the Housing Preference Form and your Health Report. Timely completion of these forms help us get to know you better and make sure all your unique needs are met before you move onto the campus. For example, the Housing Preference Form allows Residence Life to match you with your ideal roommate.

JULY

  • Housing assignments are announced! View your housing and roommate information on the Globe. More details will be available.
  • Receive your very own wells.edu student email account! Details about your student email and how to log in will be sent to your personal email that we have on file for you. Be sure to check and confirm that we have the correct email address.
