The Visiting Writers Series presents a chance to attend a public reading and discussion with Wells’ own Atiya Jordan ’16 and visiting writer MRB Chelko on Friday, March 4, at 6 p.m. in Macmillan Hall’s Art Exhibit Room (AER). All are welcome, and refreshments will be available.

MRB Chelko is the author of several chapbooks, most recently Songs & Yes (sunnyoutside, 2015) and Manhattations (PSA, 2014). She has been awarded scholarships and fellowships from the Poetry Society of America, the Breadloaf Writers’ Conference, and The University of New Hampshire. Chelko’s recent publications include Black Warrior Review, Cincinnati Review, Crazyhorse, Gulf Coast, Slice, and Poetry International. A faculty mentor in the low-residency MFA program of The New Hampshire Institute of Art, she also serves as associate editor of the unbound journal Tuesday; An Art Project and co-hosts the quarterly NYC performance series BUFFET.

Atiya Jordan is a senior English major at Wells with a concentration in creative writing and a Communications minor. She serves as a contributing writer and editor for The Odyssey Online Magazine. She is interested in using the magazine platform as an opportunity to bring all the issues that she is passionate about into the world—but in a way you won’t see in the mainstream media. Her voice always manages to scream off the page.

The Visiting Writers Series is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts.
