The Visiting Writers Series will host Joshua Corey for a reading of his poems and translations on Friday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the Art Exhibit Room of Macmillan Hall. This is the final Visiting Writers Series event of the semester.

Corey is the acclaimed author of four poetry collections and a novel, and he co-edited the anthology The Arcadia Project: North American Postmodern Pastoral. His most recent publication is his co-translation of Francis Ponge’s Partisan of Things. Corey’s honors include a Wallace Stegner Fellowship at Stanford University and a term as poet-in-residence at the University of Illinois. The Gustav E. Beerly Jr. Endowed Assistant Professor at Lake Forest College from 2010 to 2013, Corey has also served as chair of the school’s Print and Digital Publishing Program. He lives with his family in Evanston, Illinois.

You can check out his brief talk about translating Ponge, along with a couple of poems from Partisan of Things, here: www.poetrysociety.org/psa/poetry/crossroads/own_words/francis_ponge.

Corey’s work will be for sale at the reading, along with one last beautiful broadside designed and created at the Wells College Press Book Arts Center. As with all VWS events, this reading is free and open to the public.
