The Wells College Visual Arts Department is pleased to announce the opening of the Annual Senior Thesis Exhibition. The exhibition will showcase the culminating thesis work of graduating seniors Kim Brighon, Jr., Camille McNally and Jennifer VanWormer. It will open in the String Room Gallery on May 8 at 6 p.m., with a reception providing an opportunity to meet and talk to the artists. Light refreshments will be served. The gallery will be open by appointment through May 20.

Kim Brighon, Jr., (Bolivar, N.Y.) creates highly personal work that combines acrylic paint on canvas with sculpturally crafted ceramics to bring a mobile wall of graffiti into the gallery. This work spreads a political message about newly-fashioned bonds within a family.

Camille McNally (Ira, N.Y.) makes abstract drawings based on frottage, mark making, color interaction and her symbiotic relationship with trees. McNally is a nontraditional student who started her bachelor’s at SUNY Oswego in 1985. She returned to her academic pursuit after raising her two daughters in rural Upstate N.Y. McNally will attend the painting and drawing master’s program at Pratt Institute in the fall and plans to pursue a teaching career thereafter.

Jennifer VanWormer, (Liverpool, N.Y.) is a sculptural ceramic artist. Her current body of work contains over 200 human figures, collectively depicting a wide range of human experiences with each other. She aims to create a sense of diversity and acceptance within this crowd. Van Wormer plans to pursue a master’s in ceramics and a career as a college professor.

The String Room Gallery is a center for the exhibition of contemporary art in the Finger Lakes region of New York. It is located on the Wells College campus in the southwest corner of the first floor of Main Building. To make schedule a viewing of this exhibition, or for more information, please see the gallery’s website at www.wells.edu/string-room-gallery or contact Professor Katie Waugh at 315.364.3237.
