New Student Orientation 2019

Orientation helps get new students connected to Wells and to our welcoming community, right off the bat!

New first-year students arrive on campus Thursday, Aug. 22, and spend several days settling into their residence hall, meeting  fellow students, and attending special sessions introducing them to student life and the academic environment at Wells. Events will be coordinated and run by members of the Student Life office and student peer leaders.

Aug. 22: Check-in for New Students

When new students arrive on Thursday, Aug. 22, they are asked to check-in at the Art Exhibit Room, 3rd floor of Macmillan Hall, at the following times based on their residence hall assignment:

  • 8:30–10:00 a.m. ~ Dodge Hall residents
  • 10:30–Noon ~ Leach Hall residents
  • 12:30–2:00 p.m. ~ All remaining residence halls

Reminder: please note that check-in is in the Art Exhibit Room — NOT at your residence hall!

After Orientation Ends

Classes begin on Monday, Aug. 26. That afternoon there will also be a "Welcome Back BBQ" at 5 p.m., followed by the annual Opening Convocation ceremony at 7:30 p.m.

Alumni Ice Cream Social
Aug 23 @ 6:00pm

As part of orientation activities, Wells College alumni will treat new Wells students to a free ice cream social! Ice cream, with all the fixings, will be served on the Ryerson Commons -- the patio located just off the west side of the dining hall.

Opening Convocation 2019
Aug 26 @ 7:30pm

Opening Convocation for the fall 2019 semester will take place on the evening of Monday, Aug. 26 in Macmillan Circle. Not only does it mark the beginning of the fall semester, but it's one of the College's most cherished traditions.

The ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. sharp.

Join us for a BBQ in the Dining Hall and on Ryerson Commons! Meet new friends, catch up with old friends, and visit with faculty and staff!
