Land Acknowledgment

Wells College acknowledges that its campus sits upon land that is located within the territory of the Cayuga Nation. Below is a statement, approved in May 2018 by the faculty, that is read aloud at the start of meetings of faculty meetings and student assembly meetings, and also at the beginning of home athletic games.

Cayuga Land Acknowledgment 

Wells College recognizes our collective responsibility to acknowledge our colonial history. This land is the traditional land of the Cayuga Nation, a member of the Haundenosaunee Confederacy. Wells College commits itself to ensuring the traditions and culture of Indigenous peoples are embraced and reflected upon in order to engage in solidarity with the Cayuga Nation.
