SURVEILLANCE TESTING

In fall 2021, all students and employees will be subject to mandatory “re-entry” testing during the first week of the semester during the week of Aug. 30 – Sept. 5. Specific details about testing dates, times and RSVPs will be shared with the community later this month.

For the remainder of the semester, only non-vaccinated students, faculty and staff will be required to consent to mandatory, weekly COVID-19 testing. The test is a non-invasive, rapid antigen test, and results are available within 15 minutes.

Fully vaccinated students, faculty and staff are not subject to this weekly testing requirement. If you have not already done so, please send evidence of your vaccination to covidvac@wells.edu. Evidence may include your completed CDC vaccination card and/or documentation from your primary care provider, local health department. If you would like to request a waiver from the vaccination requirement, please contact the Dean of Students or the Office of Human Resources.

Any student who receives a positive COVID-19 test result or who is experiencing severe COVID-like symptoms, and who does not wish to return home, will be provided with an isolation room on campus and daily meals. We are committed to providing daily support and care for students who have to go into isolation, and our staff will help identify any academic, medical, food, or mental health support needs, and arrange for the appropriate services to be provided. 

In addition, by law we are required to report any positive test results to the Cayuga County Health Department, which will manage the contact tracing that is required with assistance from the College and the College’s Community Medical Center.

DAILY SCREENING HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED

As of June 2021, filling out the daily health screening questionnaire is no longer required. Visitors to campus are also no longer required to fill out the visitor screening form.

This screening requirement was lifted when New York State canceled its state of emergency, which rescinded many of the temporary COVID-19 mandates that had previously been in effect.
