Transition Guide

Counseling Services

Wells College has arranged for counselors to be available in the Community Medical Center beginning April 29. These individuals are prepared to meet privately or in groups with any member of our College community seeking support. Additional on-campus evening hours during this week will be shared via Wells email. In-person counseling services will continue while students are completing the semester and until graduation. Updated hours and appointment information will be shared here and on the College’s website.

Online counseling resources have also been arranged through BetterMynd and will commence on May 2. This service will extend through August 2024.

In-person services

M-F – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Remote services

Information will be provided directly via Wells email on Thursday, May 2 to all staff and faculty to invite registration with a campus-wide online service that will allow each community member direct access to services that include both group and individual sessions. All employees receive an initial bank of credits for three individual counseling visits. There are directions on your portal should you use those and want to request additional credits. Any issues with registering can be directed to Karey Pine at kpine@wells.edu.

Career Counseling

Career counseling services will assist you in exploring future academic and career opportunities. Contact the Center for Academic and Career Advising for more information (315-364-3225), or email careers@wells.edu.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

The Financial Aid Office will guide students on any outstanding financial matters and answer any questions you may have.

Manhattanville University Transitional Assistance Award

Manhattanville is offering Wells students an opportunity to apply for an annual tuition scholarship of $50,000. All students that complete their undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 will receive 60% discounted tuition on a Manhattanville master's degree in the School of Arts and Sciences or the School of Education if they begin their graduate program in the first academic term after completing their undergraduate degree. Changes to Federal School Codes: If You Want to Add or Delete a School

If you want to make your FAFSA information available to an additional school after filing the FAFSA form, you may add that school’s Federal School Code once your 2024–25 FAFSA form is processed. You can add or delete a school on your FAFSA form by doing the following steps:

  1. Log in and go to your account Dashboard.
  2. Select the submitted FAFSA form.
  3. Select the processed FAFSA submission in the “My Activity” section.
  4. Select the “Add or Remove Schools” button.
  5. Search for the school by entering either the school code or the state, city, and/or school name and then select “Search.”
  6. Select the school from the search results. The school’s Federal School Code will appear in the form.
  7. Submit the update.

Credit Transfers

Wells College has developed a teach-out plan with other institutions within New York state. These agreements help to make the transfer process seamless. Academic advisors are here to support and guide you through this process. They will be reaching out to your Wells College email in the coming days.

Official Transcripts

Your advisor will work with you to make sure your official records transfer to your teach-out institution. For those students graduating from Wells this year, official transcript requests can be handled through the Office of the Registrar until closure. After closure, transcripts may be requested from our legacy partner, Manhattanville University through its Registrar’s Office. You will be notified when you need to go to our preferred legacy partner, Manhattanville University, to seek transcripts.

Housing and Campus Storage Assistance

For students currently residing on campus, the Office of Residence Life has communicated information about residence hall closing via your campus email. All students, except graduating seniors and those who have requested to stay for Senior Week, have until May 10 to move off campus, as residence halls will close at noon on May 11.

Further information regarding any storage items and the retrieval schedule will be provided before May 6, so please continue to monitor your email.   • Undergraduate departure from campus is scheduled to be completed by Saturday, May 11 at noon
  • Graduating senior and degree expected students are scheduled to depart residences by Saturday, May 18 at 7 pm

Please understand that our need to maintain this schedule is critical and that all students are expected to follow the schedule.  Building walk-throughs will begin Sunday and need to be finalized early next week.

A small number of students who have Wells sponsored/approved work and academic commitments have been provided with extended housing through the duration of their program. These lists are provided to Residence Life by staff and/or faculty members supervising these activities.

  • Please use the dumpsters when cleaning out your rooms, and leave your room clean and free from damage.  So many students have asked about how our employees are doing and how they can assist.  One major way to assist people who support you is to leave your residence hall and room in good condition. Extra cleaning and repairs create additional responsibilities for staff members who are already working under difficult conditions.
  • Again, I extend my thanks for your anticipated understanding and continued cooperation.

On-going Services:

  • Services for on-going transfer, financial aid, business services, and registration needs will continue post-graduation and through the summer.  Areas are anticipated to experience consolidations, so please continue to contact the Registrar at registrar@wells.edu or generally questions@wells.edu with your questions.  Additional updates will continue to be posted on the Wells Closure website, so please bookmark and check there for regular additions.
  • You can expect your wells.edu email address to be eliminated by June 30th.  Please plan accordingly for this, considering particularly the emails you have given to employers or new schools to be able to contact you.
  • Counseling services with BetterMynd will continue to be available through August 2024.  You will need to register with your wells.edu email address before June 23, 2024. Then you can contact me, Karey Pine, kpine@wells.edu before June 29h to shift your account to an alternate email address, so that you may continue access to the services.

We have short-term storage available until June 30, 2024. Storage is available for those students who live beyond a 4-hour radius or have an extenuating circumstance. ALL students MUST fill out this agreement to be allowed to use on-campus storage. All items in storage must be retrieved by June 30, 2024. No items will be able to be stored after June 30, 2024 due to changes in college insurance from the closure.

Storage details:

  • Storage is located in both the basement of Main, Dodge and Leach Hall. There is no storage available in Weld, Glen Park, or Fairlane.
  • Students are responsible for transporting items to Main, Dodge or Leach Hall basements.
  • Students are limited to 3 boxes/bins. All boxes/bins must be clearly labeled with the student name, cell phone number, and "Summer 2024" written clearly on each container. Please note this is of significant importance as we anticipate staffing changes through the summer and when you return to pick up items, ensuring yours are clearly marked and secured will assist with a smooth pick up.
  • Only non-perishable items can be stored.

The rooms are not air-conditioned so students should make sure any items stored will not be damaged by heat or humidity. Refrigerators or microwaves stored count as one (1) of your items and must be fully cleaned and dry prior to storage. These items must be labeled like other boxes/bins. Furniture will not be stored. Students will be contacted via email with a link to sign up for a time to store items from 10am-5pm M-F. If students miss the time they agreed to store items, that time will not be rescheduled so please plan accordingly. Storage is not available to be accessed on Saturdays or Sundays.

We recognize some students may have a need to stay on campus to complete academic work or internships prior to June 30, 2024. If you are interested on being at Wells College this summer, below is information on the costs and a link to our Summer Housing Contract. All summer students will be housed in Dodge Hall. Students in the Pre-Vet program and Reunion workers do not need to complete this form. Information will be sent directly to those students that have been approved.

For students who are not actively participating or employed with one of the Wells hosted events in May or June, the following housing criteria will apply:

  1. Students must be working on academic requirements or participating in an internship through Wells College that requires residence in the surrounding area.
  2. Surrounding area is defined as a distance within 60 miles of the Wells College campus.
  3. Students must be able to present confirmation that they can complete their assignments or internship and vacate housing by June 30.
  4. Must complete a summer housing contract/agreement including payment expectations as outlined.
