Experiential Learning

How do you connect the dots between what you learn in the classroom with your life, your professional goals, and the world?  The experiential learning requirement at Wells brings all of this together. Unlike many colleges, experiential learning credits are mandatory for graduation, and not just reserved for your junior or senior years. From your first year with us, you will immerse yourself in exciting hands-on projects, internships, and research that enables you to test theories, develop practical skills, and gain firsthand insight into the world.

Just imagine: picture yourself doing genealogical research in Salt Lake City, anthropology studies in Hawaii, or tutoring on a Navajo reservation. Study theatre in London, work with rescue animals at a local shelter, or help children with special needs. Our students do all these things, and more, every day.

At Wells, you can earn your Experiential Learning credits in a variety of ways:

The Alumnae/i Network

Alumnae and alumni of Wells College are excellent sources of advice regarding experiential learning and career opportunities. We help link students with alumni who have offered to provide career information, to sponsor internships, and to host students. Alumni return to campus for discussions with students about their experiences in graduate school and with the job search. The connection continues after graduation as alumni are put in touch with other alums in similar career areas. In addition, alumnae/i are welcome to use any of the services provided by our staff.
