Book Arts

The minor presents a broad survey of skills, methodologies, and cultural and historical frameworks in the book arts.

Classification: Minor
Degree:

The minor surveys skills, methodologies, and cultural and historical frameworks of the book as an art form and artifact — giving students experience in problem solving, art making techniques, and communicating ideas through design and form. The minor in Book Arts has been designed to give recognition to the non-major who completes the prescribed course of study. The book form, with its potential for working with text, image, design, and narrative, is a tool for presenting content of all kinds. As such, the Book Arts Minor complements other programs of study by expanding communication strategies and providing context for cultural and historical developments. The total number of courses required for the minor is 7 (19-21 semester hours).
