 Scholarships at Wells

Wells College is proud to be partnering with RaiseMe! High school students can create a free RaiseMe account and start earning micro-scholarships towards their Wells education as early as 9th grade. Our micro-scholarships help students stay on track for college and receive performance-based aid for accomplishments like taking challenging AP or honors courses, perfect attendance, extracurriuclar participation, and volunteering in their community. Upon acceptance, students will be considered for Wells College merit-based scholarships that will be equal to or greater than students' RaiseMe earnings. 

Henry Wells Scholarship
$18,000
Includes a $3,000 experiential learning stipend that can be used towards an internship or study abroad program, as well as a guaranteed internship during the January intersession of the Scholar's first year. Henry Wells Scholars demonstrate outstanding academic achievement throughout high school. Recipients of this award are selected based on stellar academic credentials, demonstrated leadership skills, and overall excellence in the classroom.

Trustee Scholarship
$15,000
Trustee Scholars maintain academic excellence in high school and demonstrate leadership skills through active contributions to the enrichment of the individual's school or community through active involvement in co-curricular and/or community activities.

President's Scholarship
$12,000
Students who receive the President's Award demonstrate strong academic records and co-curricular achievement, and are actively engaged in communities outside of the classroom.

Dean's Award
$8,000
Students who receive the Dean's Award demonstrate strong academic records and are promising leaders in their communities outside the classroom.

Alumni Opportunity Award
$5,000
The Alumni Opportunity Award recognizes students with outstanding potential to thrive and contribute as part of the Wells community. 

Janet Taylor Reiche '52 Legacy Award
$1,000
Awarded to students who have immediate family member(s) who are graduates of Wells College.

21st Century Leadership Award
$10,000
This scholarship is awarded to high school juniors for their dynamic spirit and integrity, as well as intellectual and leadership qualities. Students must be nominated by their guidance counselors, and a maximum of two qualifying students can be nominated from each school. Qualified candidates must have a cumulative grade point average of 85% and demonstrate leadership ability and/or potential through school and community activities. 21st Century Leaders can finish high school with the comfort of knowing there is guaranteed financial support for their college career at Wells. By continuing to improve their performance in academic and extracurricular activities during their final year of high school, students can increase their chances to qualify for other Wells College merit-based scholarships upon submission of a completed application for admission. Empowering New York Leaders Award
$300 - $1,500
This award is granted to eligible students who submit a completed application for admission by January 1, 2019, and are also residents of one of the five boroughs of New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and the Bronx).

Wells College Transfer Scholarship
$5,000 - $10,000
Students must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better to qualify for the Transfer Scholarship.

Phi Theta Kappa students (transfer students who are members of this two-year college honor society) will automatically receive a bonus $2,000 scholarship.  Proof of PTK membership must be submitted with admissions application.

International Students
$5,000 - $15,000
With their unique backgrounds and perspectives, international students contribute to the global living and learning environment at Wells College. Wells College automatically considers every international applicant for a scholarship to contribute towards their pursuit of a Wells education. Award amount will be determined based on the student's academic record. International students in search of further financial assistance may benefit from researching scholarships from external sources.

21st Century Leadership Award

nominations NOW OPEN - Due April 17, 2019

Do you know a junior in your high school who stands out from the crowd? A student who is spirited, bright, and forward-thinking? Wells College invites all high school counselors to nominate two (2) outstanding students from their school for the 21st Century Leadership Award. This award celebrates high school juniors for their exemplary spirit, steadfast integrity, dedication to academics, and leadership qualities. This award is a $10,000 pre-scholarship per year of study at Wells College. A maximum of two (2) qualifying students can be nominated by counselors from their school. Qualified candidates must have:

  • a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (85%) or higher;
  • demonstrated leadership ability and/or potential through school and community activities

Please note that as an NCAA Division III college, athletic participation is not considered when selecting candidates for this award.
