Apply as a First-Year Student

COVID-19 Update:
Wells College will continue to accept applications for Fall 2020. Decisions will be released on a rolling basis. Enrollment deposits will not be due until June 1. The Admissions Team will continue to serve students, counselors, and families as best as we can. Some admissions and financial aid processes may be delayed; we thank you for your patience during this unpredictable time!

Step 2: Provide Required Materials
  • Official high school transcripts and school report
  • One teacher recommendation from an 11th and/or 12th grade teacher in academic subject areas
  • Unique Expression: To help us better understand your achievements and potential, we welcome any additional material that showcases your unique personality and talents. These can be but are not limited to: Personal essays, your Zeemee Profile, a résumé, creative portfolio, and/or video recording of a musical or athletic performance.
  • International students only: English proficiency test scores. See here for more details.
  • Students applying for first-year admission should present a secondary school program with a minimum of four academic subjects each year, including:

    • four years of English
    • three or more years of mathematics
    • three or more years of social science
    • two or more years of laboratory science
    • one or more years of a foreign language

Highly Recommended: Campus Visit
At Wells, personal starts with your campus visit. Chat with an admissions counselor, let a current Wellsian show you around campus, sit in on a class, meet with a professor in the major(s) of your interest, or hang out with a coach for a sport of your interest (depending on availability). With enough prior notice, overnight stays can also be arranged during the academic year for students who have been admitted to Wells College. Schedule your visit to Aurora, New York!

  • AP scores (scores of 3, 4, and 5 are accepted)
  • Test Scores: Wells College is committed to reviewing applications holistically and considering many facets of a student's potential. To honor that commitment, admission to Wells is now test optional. We no longer require SAT or ACT scores in the application evaluation process.

Step 3: Financial Aid

To help us provide you with the most complete financial aid award package, you must submit a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If you have questions about scholarships, student loans, or how to file the FAFSA, our Office of Financial Aid is always happy to help!
