Applying to Wells
We want to get to know you, not just the numbers on your transcript. Applications are reviewed holistically, by people and not algorithms. We welcome students with all types of life experiences to apply and join our community.

How to Apply as First-Year Student

Step 1: Submit an application to Wells College

Use one of the following methods to apply to Wells College:

Step 2: Provide Required Materials
  • Official high school transcripts and school report
  • One teacher recommendations from 11th and/or 12th grade teachers in academic subject areas
  • Test Optional: Wells College is committed to reviewing applications holistically and considering many facets of a student's potential. To honor that commitment, admission to Wells is now test optional. We no longer require SAT or ACT scores in the application evaluation process.

Step 3: Financial Aid

To help us provide you with the most complete financial aid award package, you must submit a completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This can be done electronically or by paper. If you have questions about scholarships, student loans, or how to file the FAFSA, our Office of Financial Aid is always happy to help!

Students applying for first-year admission should present a secondary school program with a minimum of four academic subjects each year, including:

  • four years of English
  • three or more years of mathematics
  • three or more years of social science
  • two or more years of laboratory science
  • one or more years of a foreign language

Application Deadlines

To be considered for admission to Wells, you must submit your completed application to the Wells College Admissions Office by one of the deadline options below.

EARLY ACTION

Deadline: December 15. Students who wish to receive their decision early should submit their applications through the Early Action program. This is a non-binding admissions option.

Early Decision

Deadline: December 15. Students who regard Wells as their top choice are encouraged to apply under the Early Decision option. This is a binding admissions option. If admitted, Early Decision applicants agree to accept Wells' offer of admission and withdraw their applications to all other institutions by January 15. Early decision students must submit their non-refundable $300 enrollment deposits by February 15.

Regular Admissions

Deadline: March 1. Applications must be received by this deadline for full funding and campus housing considerations.
