The Center for Sustainability and the Environment works with operational units across campus to further develop the campus as a “living-learning laboratory” that reinforces and models the principles and practices of sustainability that students learn in their coursework. The Center collaborates with entities off-campus to share best practices for more sustainable operations and serves as a conduit for student projects and internships utilizing the ways in which the campus runs as “real world” learning tools. Wells offers “place-based” opportunities for students to experience what it means to live and work more sustainably.
