Program Cost and Financial Aid:
Students participating in the First Semester in Florence program are considered full-time students at Wells College. Limited institutional aid (a $8,000 Florence scholarship) will be awarded to students invited to participate in this program. After this institutional aid is applied, students should expect the average net cost of the semester abroad to come to approximately $17,000. This amount includes tuition, room, partial board, all cultural programming/excursions, and round-trip flight from New York City area to Florence for the fall semester. Note this does not include other out-of-pocket costs such as books/supplies, student visa, and U.S. orientation fee. See below budget estimator to view full expense breakdown. A $300 nonrefundable deposit is required to confirm your spot and will be applied as a credit to your program fee.
Federal and state financial aid may be applied to help pay for the total cost of the semester abroad. Students seeking financial aid must submit the FASFA as soon as possible to determine aid eligibility. When completing the FAFSA, make sure you enter the Wells College Federal School Code #002901 on the application. Be sure you are using your and your parent(s) appropriate tax information for the application. Visit the federal FAFSA website here: studentaid.gov.
Budget
In addition to the above program fee, students should plan to budget a minimum of $1,164-1,500 to cover the cost of additional meals (breakfasts are not included) and other expenses such as books, visa, immunizations, flight to/from home city to New York (if applicable), and U.S. orientation fee. You may also wish to budget additional funds for any personal expenses such as entertainment and independent travel. Please see below budget calculator for a comprehensive cost breakdown.

We encourage students to compare our cost against other university semesters and study-abroad providers in Florence or Italy. Our program fee is competitive; unlike most other programs, our semester fee includes partial board PLUS round-trip flights.
