Important dates for the 2020-2021 year.

Fall 2020

August

Aug. 17 Students returning from outside New York State or from other countries, or any other student who needs to start a 14-day quarantine on campus, may arrive as early as Aug. 17
Aug. 21–22 New first-year and transfer students arrive on campus; students will be able to reserve a return date/time by early August
Aug. 21–28 Orientation for new students; orientation sessions will be done on a rolling basis, based upon the student's return date
Aug. 24
New faculty orientation; time TBA
Aug. 25 "Day for Faculty" program (12:30-2:00 p.m.)
Aug. 25–28
Returning students arrive; students will be able to reserve a return date/time by early August

Aug. 31 Monday  Classes begin at 8 a.m.

SEPTEMBER

Sept. 4 Last day to add a full-semester course for fall 2020; last day to add or drop a "first seven weeks" course
Sept. 11 Last day to drop a full-semester course (deadline is 4:30 p.m.); last day to add a full-semester course with permission form signed by instructor; deadline for students to notify the Office of Academic & Career Advising of internship plans for fall 2020
Sept. 25 Last day to withdrawal from a "first seven week" course (deadline is 4:30 p.m.)

October

Important note: there is no fall break this year 
Oct. 19
"Second seven week" courses begin
Oct. 23 Last day to add or drop a "second seven week" course (deadline is 4:30 p.m.)
Oct. 30 Last day to withdrawal from a full-semester course (deadline is 4:30 p.m.)

November

Nov. 213 Advising period for spring 2021 registration
Nov. 16–20 Registration for spring 2021 classes; remember, you must have clearance on the Globe from your advisor to register for spring courses)
Nov. 20 Last day to withdrawal from a "second seven week" course (deadline is 4:30 p.m.)
Nov. 21–29
Thanksgiving break begins on Saturday, Nov. 21; students will complete the rest of the fall semester remotely
Nov. 30 All classes move to remote instruction for the remainder of the fall 2020 semester

December

Dec. 11  Last day of classes
Dec. 1213  Study period
Dec. 1418 Final examination period
Dec. 21 All final grades due from faculty by 8:30 a.m.; grades will be available on the Globe

Important note:

Wells College has revised the spring 2021 schedule as shown below, with spring classes beginning on Feb. 8, 2021. Please note that there will not be a spring break this year. The dates for final exams, Senior Week and Commencement have not changed.

The College is also prepared to shift to remote teaching and learning in the event that we are required to suspend in-person instruction.
