The Wells College Book Arts Center is happy to announce the 33rd Susan Garretson Swartzburg ’60 Memorial Book Arts Lecture. There are two speakers this year: Nava Atlas and Maureen Cummins, who, with Ann Lovett, are the three book artists featured in the show “In Retrospect: Artist’s Books and Works on Paper.” Wells is the fifth and final venue for this show, which has also been at Hope College, SUNY Ulster, Lafayette College and Visual Studies Workshop.
The show should be of interest to anyone keeping up with the wide variety of contemporary artist books, as the examples in the show are of very high caliber. “In Retrospect” is in the String Room Gallery in Main Building. The gallery talks begin at 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 19, and are free and open to the public. For more information, please call the Book Arts Center at 315.364.3420 or check out their blog at wellsbookartscenter.wordpress.com.
