At Wells, we don't just provide housing. We design interesting living environments that foster intellectual growth, personal development, global citizenship and diversity in our students' daily lives.
Wells students live in eight residence halls or “houses” in a variety of architectural styles and room types--from the updated Weld House to the 19th century Glen Park Mansion, the former home of college founder Henry Wells.
Each residence hall has a laundry room, large lounges with vending machines, kitchens, wireless internet, and cable television. Because this is their home, students participate in the character and development of their living spaces. This includes developing community standards to ensure that all students live together in positive environments that promote personal growth and social harmony.
Students eat their meals together in the majestic Tudor-style dining hall in Main Building. Special dinners are presented throughout the year, including weekend brunches, exam treats, picnics, and holiday dinners. The Express Cafe, located at the south end of the dining hall, also serves a variety of fast food items.

The Office of Residence Life strives to provide safe and comfortable residential facilities that contribute to the thriving residential experience. Focusing on community development, Residence Life complements academic learning while also focusing on wholistic development of Wellsians by: creating an inclusive environment where students develop their passions and engage in opportunities designed to foster personal responsibility, critical thinking, and global citizenship.
The connection between social and academic development is paramount in educating the whole student—as a scholar and as a member of society. Students living in the residence facilities at Wells College will be provided learning opportunities by professional staff members and student leaders committed to the development of their peers and themselves. These learning opportunities work to achieve the following educational goals to enhance student success:
Personal Development—the examination and clarification of one’s own beliefs, values and identities while learning life skills applicable to Wells College and beyond.
Academic Success—Creating an integrative environment for students to achieve their academic goals by the utilization of resources and development of skills.
Community Development—the participation in an environment in which all members are mutually valued and supported, and members recognize the impact their decisions have on others.
Citizenship—Creating opportunities to become an engaged, informed, and active member of one's community, both at Wells College and in other communities, and work to develop a broader world view.
Inclusion— Offer a climate that celebrates inclusion by bringing students together in a community where differences are respected, exposing students to differing cultures, and where the common goal is life-long learning.
