Student Employment Appreciation Week
04-18-14 - The Wells community celebrates student employees with cake and coffee in the Art Exhibit Room.
Offices all over campus participated in National Student Employment Appreciation Week, April 13-19, with certificates and other rewards for student workers as well as a campus-wide celebration on April 17 in the Art Exhibit Room of Macmillan Hall. Student workers and their supervisors took a few minutes out of their afternoon to enjoy cake, cheese, and coffee and socialize with each other.
Wells currently has around 280 students participating in the campus work-study program; these positions give Wells' students a chance to work directly with faculty and staff, gain valuable experience in a professional setting and provide College staff with assistance and support of daily operations.
According to the website for National Student Employment Appreciation Week, "Student employment offers students career-enhancing opportunities, the ability to develop skills relevant in any career, and better preparation for the job market upon graduation...On their campuses, student employees perform invaluable services with enthusiasm, dedication, and initiative." This is especially true within Wells' small, smart, and connected atmosphere.
Thank you to all who came to the celebration, and thank you again to the student workers who continue to make the College an exceptional place!
