Students and Staff at
3rd Floor BYOL area New Furnishings Make Bring Your Own Laptop Areas
Comfortable and Appealling

Looking for a comfy and network-connected place to study and write papers on your own laptop this semester? Check out the appealling new furnishings and cozy, clear lighting in the Library's Bring Your Own Laptop areas.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of several departments of the college, our "BYOL" areas now have all the comfortable amenities our users could want. Thanks to Carpenter Rich Wertman and Electrician Don Radcliff of Buildings and Grounds we now have attractive custom counters at the ergonomically correct height with direct lighting. Outlets for electricity and data cables for Internet access are now conveniently at counter-level. Comfortable office-style rolling chairs with adjustable height will finish off the new furnishings.

New Database Service: EbscoHost

EBSCOhost gives researchers immediate, one-stop access to a variety of databases, some providing full text. EBSCOhost offers over 1,500 journals in searchable full text, over 1,000 full image journals, abstracts and indexing for nearly 3,800 journals, and current citations for over 11,000 titles. The full text of newspapers, encyclopedic data, and over 1,200 pamphlets and brochures is also covered within the databases of EBSCOhost.

EBSCOhost, which is an online database searching service, should not be confused with EBSCO Online, which offers searchable access to electronic journal subscriptions. Users can read more about EBSCO Online in the September 1999 Library News.

New Database Service: Dialog@Carl

Dialog@CARL is a powerful search tool for a wide array of information resources. Depending upon our library's selection of databases, subject coverage includes news, business, reference, arts, humanities, social sciences, government, science, technology, medicine, and intellectual property. Dialog@CARL can assist you with your library research by offering you direct access to features such as arrangement of databases by topic and subtopic, basic and advanced searching, the Personal List Manager (for saving, e-mailing, printing records), search history, and context-sensitive help.
