Faculty
and students at Wells
College are encouraged to take an active role in the
development of the library's collections.
Before
submitting an order, please
check the library's online catalog to verify that the library does not
already have the title.
We
cannot reimburse
individuals or
departments for purchase of items intended for inclusion in the
library's
collection without advance authorization by the associate library
director.
Submit
your orders for books/videos/DVDs
in one of three ways:
1.
Fill out a book request card
and send it to Kim Nolan, acquisitions manager. Request cards
can
be found at the Circulation Desk or in the Acquisitions Office.
2.
Publishers' catalogs, blurbs,
or brochures may be submitted instead of request cards. Clearly circle
the titles requested and include pertinant publisher information
such
as telephone and address.
3.
E-mail Kim Nolan at knolan@wells.edu.
It is recommended that you select "return receipt notification"
to confirm receipt of your order.
For
all requests:
Whenever
possible list author, title, publisher,
year, ISBN, and cost.
Include
your name and department.
When
requesting a number of titles, please
prioritize your requests.
If
a title is intended for use as a course reserve, include the course
number and type of reserve desired (2 hour open, 2 hour closed, 3 hour
open, 3 hour closed, 2 day).
Generally:
Please
submit requests as far in advance as
possible.
Depending
upon availability, fulfillment can
take from a few weeks to several months.
If
you need an item quickly, please write
"rush" at the top of your request but keep in mind that timely shipment
is dependent upon stock availability.
You
will be notified by email if an item is
out-of-print or no longer available.
If
requested, new items may be placed on "hold"
at the Circulation Desk. You will be notified by email that your
requests
are available.
The
library purchases hardcover editions whenever
possible, and purchases only a single copy of a given
title.
Dissertations
from other
institutions,
textbooks, workbooks, and teaching aids are not normally added to the collection.
Gifts
are accepted with the understanding
that the library may include them in the collection or dispose of them
at the librarian's discretion.
Requests
for new journal subscriptions
should be submitted to Muriel
Godbout.
For
more information,
contact Kim Nolan at 364-3357 or send an email to knolan@wells.edu.
