Alumnae Council 2000

A Symposium: Redefining Alumnae Volunteer Service to Wells College

Discovering the Wells Wide Web Over 50 alumnae volunteers met on campus during the weekend of September 15 - 17 for a new series of workshops and discussion groups that provided an opportunity to learn strategies to become a more effective volunteer and to answer their questions: What does it mean to be a volunteer for my alma mater? How can I best do my job? What is expected of me? How can I provide good service to Wells?

The weekend included opportunities for Council delegates to learn and use information about college priorities in academics, internships, experiential learning, admissions, fundraising and alumnae relations. Many alumnae also brought promising young women to campus to take part in an important admissions event, the Legacy Open House. It was a very busy, exciting weekend but alumnae did manage to find time to navigate the Wells ropes course, shop the bookstore, and cheer for their favorite team during the annual Odd/Even competition.

Message from Carroll Wetzel Wilkinson ’68

Vice President of the Alumnae Association Board for Alumnae Council

Wells alumna LISTEN UP! At our annual Alumnae Council meeting this September, the regional representatives present discussed new ways to reach you and have you reach us. We talked about the new technologies available and thought how great it would be if we could use the Internet to increase the connections between Wells women. It is the custom to write all alumnae each year with descriptions of the activities on campus during Alumnae Council. This year we are trying something new: outreach for Wells through e-mail.

So please take a moment to read your regional representative's letter:
