Wells Women...truly a collection of originals

Connected to each other by the colors of our memories – red, purple, yellow, green, blue and the spectacular hues of the sun setting over Cayuga Lake.  Yet each Wells sister is also a part  of the heritage that has changed the global landscape of women for 134 years.

On Thursday, May 30, Wells women of all ages began their pilgrimage back to campus for Reunion 2002.  Kicking off with a welcome reception at Taylor House, Reunion starred science-themed Alumnae college sessions, bird watching walks, yoga, and tours of the MacKenzie-Childs pottery studios.  The Fargo south tent on the Dining Hall green always provided a shaded place to take a break and chat with old friends.  In the meantime, class picnics, campus tours, the annual reunion parade, and a fabulous talk by 2002 Alumnae Award recipient Anne Goddard Charter ’35 presented the perfect lead to Saturday Night’s Gala on the AA field.  A pink and yellow sunset provided the flawless backdrop.  Good friends laughed, a three-course dinner was served, and people danced the night away to live music by The Destination.  At the height of the party, dozens of fireworks splashed the night sky, a perfect finale, the colors settling in our memories for years to come.

Sunday was a day for good-byes.  Once again women – sisters – passed through the college doors and out into the world.  We hope to see you back at Reunion next year, to experience the magic of Wells once again.
