Scholarship in Education

Wells boasts an excellent faculty that is committed to scholarship in education. At Alumnae College and Reunion 2001 returning alums were able to interact with professors about their ongoing research and scholarship and how that enriches the student classroom experience.

Logo2001Alumnae heard from several faculty members and from Arthur Bellinzoni, Professor Emeritus of Religion, whose tenure at Wells speaks volumes for scholarship in education. In his keynote address they heard his views about the importance of ongoing scholarship, dedication to teaching excellence, and civic duty.

In addition to their collective volumes of scholarly research, the Wells faculty was ranked the #1 teaching faculty in the nation by the Princeton Review's annual guidebook, The Best 331 Colleges. Using rankings based on candid student views of the college, the guide describes Wells faculty members as "amazing," "extremely intelligent," and "approachable."

As one faculty member states, "Living and working in the Wells community has enabled me to integrate all parts of myself - as a woman, scholar, and teacher. What I do, what I think, what I feel are all part of a seamless whole. I want my students to find that same unity during their time here and carry it into the rest of their lives."
