Wells College - Main Building Wells College is a nationally recognized private coeducational liberal arts college located in Aurora, New York, on the eastern shore of Cayuga Lake. Visiting Assistant Professor of Spanish
Wells College, a small liberal arts college in Aurora, New York, seeks applicants for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor in Latin American Literature and Cultures for 2008-09, with the possible conversion to tenure track.  The successful candidate will teach courses at all levels in language and literature.  Native or near-native command of the language is essential.  Candidates should have the PHD in hand or be at the last stages of ABD.

Assistant Professor of Psychology

Secondary Education / Curriculum and Instruction 
Secondary Education/Curriculum and Instruction Position—full time, tenure track beginning August 2008.  Successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses focusing on instructional methods and foundations.  Other responsibilities include supervision of field experiences and student teaching, as well as advising pre-service teacher candidates. Candidate should have secondary teaching experience (grades 7-12), knowledge of reflective teaching practices, a strong background in instructional technology and a commitment to issues of diversity. Leave Replacement Position General Chemistry and Physical Chemistry 
The Biological and Chemical Sciences Major at Wells College seeks an individual qualified to teach General Chemistry I and/or Physical Chemistry (a one-semester course) during the Fall 2008 semester.  There is a possibility of continuing into the Spring 2009 semester teaching General Chemistry II and/or Instrumental Analysis.  Each of these courses will meet twice a week (Tuesday and Thursday mornings) for 75 minutes and each will have an afternoon lab section (Tuesday for Physical Chemistry and Thursday for General Chemistry) of approximately 3 hours.

Coordinator of Learning Support Services
Wells College seeks qualified applicants for the position of Coordinator of Learning Support Services.  The Coordinator will report to and work directly with the Associate Dean/Director of Academic Advising, coordinating a wide range of learning support services for all students.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to: develop and conduct workshops for students, faculty and staff in relationship to learning strategies, pedagogy and learning styles; coordinate the disability disclosure and accommodations process and work directly with students w/ disabilities; develop and supervise ESL instruction and services; with the Director Academic Advising, create systems and strategies for intervention and support for students at academic risk; work with academic advisors, student life staff and other departments to assist them in supporting learning goals; assess campus learning programs and services.  Successful candidate will have a masters degree in special education, education, counseling, or related field, 3-5 years experience directly working with college students and college administration, proven ability to assess programming and services, excellent communication and computer skills.  Experience working with high school students with disabilities also an asset.  Send letter of application, resumé and the names and phone numbers of three professional references to: Dean of the College, Wells College, 170 Main Street, Aurora, NY 13026 or electronically to dean@wells.edu.  Review of applications will begin May 1 and continue until the position is filled. Admissions Counselor/Assistant Director
This position will represent Wells College to prospective students, parents, and high school counselors for the purpose of recruiting and selecting new students to the college.  Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  planning and implementing recruitment activities in assigned regions/territories (minimum 8 weeks of travel in the fall/ 4 weeks in the spring), managing all phases of the application and selection process, conducting prospective student interviews, participating in on-campus visitation programs, plus additional responsibilities and special projects.

Bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license are required.  Experience in college admission, communications and marketing is preferred but not required.  Weekend and evening work is required during peak recruitment seasons.  Candidates must demonstrate strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.  Strong organizational and time management skills are essential with the ability to work independently and within a team environment.  Must be self-motivated, flexible, and have a sense of humor.  Wells College is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Library Coordinator of Public Services and Outreach
Wells College seeks a dynamic and forward-thinking individual with a deep commitment to library leadership, innovation and customer service to coordinate all library activities associated with public services and outreach.  The ability to lead and manage these services while serving as a catalyst for change is critical. The Coordinator of Public Services and Outreach is responsible for all public service activities including reference, instruction, collection development, information literacy, library outreach and supervises staff in circulation and reserves, interlibrary loan, and archives. The Long Library staff recently merged with campus Information Technology to form a new unit, Library and Information Services (LIS).  LIS is also in the process of creating an information commons that will incorporate library and campus-wide initiatives to provide enhanced academic support for Wells College students. The Coordinator will participate in the development and consolidation of additional programmatic efforts in this area.  Fundamental to the position is the ability to develop and implement more effective ways to meet faculty and student information needs. In addition, this person is charged with enhancing outreach activities with internal and external communities. The Coordinator reports to the Associate Library Director and is a member of the library’s management team. Qualifications: MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited program; demonstrated energy, initiative, and commitment to customer service; at least three to five years experience in an academic library, especially in the areas of instruction and reference with increased programmatic responsibilities over time; collection development experience; knowledge of major library databases and some experience with electronic resource selection, licensing and access; supervisory experience especially in a team-based setting; some familiarity with interlibrary loan systems and contemporary document delivery programs; some familiarity with archival material and the issues surrounding their preservation and utilization; excellent communication  and technical skills; and the ability to lead and excel in a collegial environment contributing to the College’s commitment to intercultural and global education.

Stationary Engineer

Working Grounds Foreman
Wells College seeks qualified candidates for the position of Working Grounds Foreman.  As a key employee of the College, the Working Grounds Foreman is responsible for all aspects of supervising the operations of the grounds maintenance department, insuring a safe, welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff and guests and preserving the current high standard of care of all College owned property. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting the Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds and Director of Facilities to develop and schedule an overall plan for the maintenance of the grounds for the campus and other College owned property; supervise grounds workers, including hiring new personnel, conducting appraisals and issue disciplinary measures as may be necessary; be or become certified and maintain certification as a person of competence in all job related tasked that may be governed by and OSHA and/or DOL standards, provide training to all grounds personnel in regards to performing their job functions; oversee all aspects of grounds maintenance (including but not limited to: mowing, trimming, snow removal, general landscaping, tree planting and removal, patching potholes on campus roads, clean and maintain all storm water systems, including all gutters and downspout systems); assign and assist the grounds workers daily duties according to individual capabilities and check progress; insure equipment is maintained in a clean and safe operating condition; insure all grounds shop and storage areas are kept clean , organized and safe; assist in grounds maintenance of commercial owned properties as may be required; oversee and assist with special projects (i.e. install and repair steam, sewer, water lines and/or drain pipes, etc.); oversee and assist set ups for special events (i.e. graduation, reunion, conferences) as requested. Requirements: extensive knowledge of grounds maintenance; vehicle operations and general safety procedures; excellent supervisory and organizational skills; ability to work independently and also work as a team; must be able to life at least 50lbs,  squat, stand, walk, knee or be in a prone position for at least 15 minutes at a time; must hold a valid NYS drivers license with no moving violations; High School diploma with at least 5 years previous experience in a similar supervisory position; must be able to work weekends and holidays as may be required for handling emergencies and snow removal. Part-Time Security Officer
