A series of workshops, held on February 17 and 18 and directed by Edward "Chief" Menifee of Atlanta, Ga., lead up to the Gospel Weekend Concert at 7:30 p.m. February 18 in the Recital Hall of Barler Hall on the Wells College Campus. The Gospel Weekend and Concert is free of charge and the public is cordially invited to participate in all events; those who are not able to attend the workshop component are welcome to attend the concert.

The Gospel Weekend is an annual event in which the students, faculty and staff at Wells College and surrounding communities come together to learn about and engage in the singing of gospel music, culminating in a concert of songs learned over the weekend. This year’s workshops and performance will be directed by Edward "Chief" Menifee, who has led gospel workshops at Wells College, Hamilton College and Muhlenberg College for over a decade.

Over the years, gospel choirs and students from Hamilton College, Ithaca College and Union Springs Academy have participated in the workshop, as well as various churches and communities of faith in the area.
