The Wells College Visiting Writers Series welcomes writer George Drew for a reading of his poetry at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, in the Art Exhibit Room of Macmillan Hall on the Wells College campus. Refreshments will be provided, and a question-and-answer session offers an opportunity to interact with the author. This event is free and open to the public.

George Drew is the author of four books of poems. His most recent, titled The View from Jackass Hill, was published this fall by Texas Review Press; the manuscript for the collection was awarded the 2010 X. J. Kennedy Poetry Prize. His previous books and other writings have been recognized with the Paumanok Poetry Award, the Baltimore Review Poetry Prize, and the South Carolina Review Poetry Prize, and he has been nominated for the Chautauqua Literary Journal Poetry Contest. His third collection, American Cool, won the 2010 Adirondack Literary Award for best poetry book of 2009.

Mississippi born, Mr. Drew currently lives in New York State. He has published widely, with poems appearing recently or upcoming in journals around the country. His work has been frequently anthologized, most recently in The Southern Poetry Anthology, II: Mississippi
