Students at 300 Miles to Freedom
Special events at the College provide myriad opportunities to learn something new while taking some time away from books.
Students Sami Sheehan '12, Sharon Vitello '12, Symone Sylvester '12 and Bryant Sanders '12 sit in the audience at the screening of 300 Miles to Freedom. As seniors, all are looking forward to getting their degree this month and demonstrating what they’ve learned in the real world! Symone is enrolled in a master’s program in special education at Syracuse University for this fall, and Bryant will be traveling to Kentucky to work in sales and marketing for General Cable.
Students like these four help to demonstrate Wells' intention to educate students not just through coursework, but through a full semester's programming of film screenings, art exhibitions, guest lecturers, visiting writers, and Arts and Lecture Series events. Faculty, staff, and students are diligent about scheduling these special events for the benefit of the community—keeping in mind that with Wells' beautiful, rural location, it's important to keep the community active, busy, and engaged in their educational and extracurricular endeavors!
