Danielle Crabtree at Internship Poster Session
Students expand their already stellar academic experiences with internships during
break periods.
Danielle Crabtree ’12 talks with Diane Koester about her internship at the World of Inquiry School 58 in Rochester, N.Y. Several Wells students have
held internships with the organization, an “expeditionary Learning school dedicated
to inquiry-based learning which emphasizes learning by doing.” This model of education
provides a unique environment, and Wells students interested in becoming teachers
are able to interact with and help young people in ways that other education internships
may not always offer.
Danielle showcases the distinct possibilities of a liberal arts education, majoring
in both biochemistry & molecular biology and math and holding minors in secondary education and German. Wells students like Danielle
open themselves to learning and experiencing multiple disciplines and exploring the
ways that different fields interact with and depend on each other. This results in
a well-rounded student who is able to consider different elements of a problem individually,
synthesize knowledge from different fields, and contribute something of their own
to the conversation. The liberal arts education thoroughly prepares students to engage
life after college and become a productive member of a changing society.
