EXPRESS REIGN OVER STORM

9/23/2009

Aurora, NY –The Wells College men’s soccer team used a suffocating defense and an early second half goal en-route to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Keuka College Storm on Wednesday afternoon at Wells.  Justin Rigney scored the lone goal for the Express while goalie Mike Birklin recorded his second shutout of the season with four saves. Storm goalie Mike Meskell finished with six saves. With the win the Express improve to 2-6 on the season while the Storm falls to 4-2-1.

With the Storm averaging eight shots on goal a game, the Express used a stifling defense to hold the Storm to four shots on goal while firing nine shots of their own on Meskell. NEAC men's soccer Student-Athlete of the Week, Justin Rigney, stayed hot, firing a shot by Meskell at 61:45 to break a scoreless tie.

The Express will next host Penn St. Abington on Saturday, September 26th at 2:00 pm at Wells.
