The
Medaille College Mavericks used a suffocating defense in the
final minutes holding on to defeat the Wells Express 78-73 in
men’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at Medaille. The
Mavericks were led by Keith Hack who finished with 24 points and
seven rebounds. Senior Darrell Bullock led the Express with a
game high 29 points while sophomore Greg Jones
chipped in with 20 points. The loss drops the Express to 1-2
while the Mavericks stay undefeated at 3-0.
Down by four points heading into the break, the two teams would
spend the second half in a back and forth battle with the lead
changing hands six times in the half.
Medaille
would pull away with an 8-0 run with 2:10 remaining giving the
Mavericks a 78-70 lead with 40-seconds remaining. The Express
would add three uncontested points in the final seconds as
Medaille held on for the victory.
The
Express will next play Alfred University on Tuesday, November 24th
at 7:00pm at Alfred.
