EXPRESS CRUSH NITTANY LIONS

January 30, 2010

Aurora, N.Y.– Darrell Bullock (Chicago) finished with 29 points and seven assists and Greg Jones (Alexandria, Va.) added 21 points and seven assists of his own as the Wells College men’s basketball team (12-5) steadily defeated Penn. St. Harrisburg 114-88 on Saturday afternoon at Wells. Steve Jones (Harrisburg, Pa.) led four Nittany Lions in double-figures with 22 points and six rebounds. The loss snaps a six game winning streak for the Nittany Lions who fell to 11-6.

Using an up-temp style of offense and a full-court press on defense, the Express jumped out to an early 21-4 lead four minutes into the first half. The Nittany Lions would climb back to within six-points, 25-19, at 12:02 of the half and it looked as though they may have Wells on their heels. But 3-pointers by Matt Condy (Seaford, N.Y.) and Greg Jones would spark a 24-6 run by the Express that would lead to a 16-point halftime lead at 62-46. The Express shot an astounding 67 percent from the field and 57 percent from behind the arc in the first half.

The hot shooting continued in the second half as the Express would extend their lead to as many as 34 points, before cruising to the 26 point victory.

For the sixth time this season the Express had five players in double-figures. The nations second leading rebounder, Juan Paulino (Bronx, N.Y.), continued his dominance on the board tallying 18 rebounds to go along with 19 points. Terrance Wright (Rochester, N.Y) added 12 points, while Rionn Pradia (Houston, Texas) chipped in with 11 points. Overall, the Express have had at least four players score in double-figures 13 times this season.

Cracking the century mark for the third time this season, the 114 points scored sets a new school record for points in a game. The Express would also go on to set team records for field goals made (45), field goal percentage (.625), and 3-point field goal percentage (.522), while tying the team record for assists in a game with 30.

The Express return to action on Wednesday, February 3 against Keuka College in Aurora, N.Y. with the tip-off set for 7:00 pm.
