EXPRESS BLOWOUT STORM

February 3, 2010

Aurora, N.Y.– The Wells College men’s basketball team (13-5) jumped out to an 18-point lead early in the second half and never looked back as they cruised to the 90-61 victory over the Keuka College Storm (6-10) on Wednesday evening at Wells. Darrell Bullock led four Express players in double figures with a game high 24 points, while Juan Paulino added 19 points and a game high 17 rebounds. Diamond Booker and Alex Coleman led the Storm with 16 points each in the loss. The Express have now won nine of their last ten games.

The Express came out quick in the first half, opening with a 10-2 run, but the Storm would rally back to within three points on a Calvin Logins lay-up with four minute to play in the first half. That would prove to be the last bucket of the half for the Storm as the Express closed with a 9-0 run to push the lead to 12 at the break.

Extending their lead to 18 points in the second half, it wasn’t until late in the half that the Express would blow the game wide open. Capitalizing on two straight turnovers by the Storm, the Express would go on a 15-6 run, capped by a thunderous dunk from Bullock with less than a minute remaining that had everyone out of their seats and the blowout victory at hand.

The Express, who rank 12 in the nation in scoring offense, continued their hot shooting in this game finishing 50 percent from the floor (37-74), 30 percent from behind arc (7-23), while tallying 30 assists for the second straight game. The 29 point victory marks the eighth time this season the Express have won by 20 or more points and the second straight game in which they have not trailed.

Rounding out the scorers for the Express were Rionn Pradia with 14 points and Greg Jones with 12 points and a career high nine assists. It is the 14th time this season the Express have had at least four players in double figures.

Wells returns to action Saturday, February 6th, when they travel to Utica, N.Y. to take on NEAC rival SUNYIT (13-4) at 3:00 pm.
