MANN AND COONS EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

April 30, 2010

Aurora, N.Y.- Aly Mann (Walden, N.Y./Valley) and Rebekah Coons (Voorheesville, N.Y./Voorheesville) of the Wells College softball team have been named all-conference selections for the North Eastern Athletic Conference released Thursday night. Mann earned NEAC All-Conference Second Team honors, while Coons was named to the NEAC All-Conference Third Team.

SOFTBALL FALLS TO PS. BERKS

April 28, 2010

Reading, Pa.- The Wells College softball team had their season come to an end yesterday afternoon falling to the No. 3 seed Penn. St. Berks 3-0 in the opening round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference Championship Tournament on Tuesday in Reading, Pa. No. 6 seed Wells ends their season with a record of 12-14 (10-10 NEAC), while Berks improves to 16-19 (14-7 NEAC).

EXPRESS SWEEP PENN. ST ABINGTON CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT

Aurora, N.Y.- The Wells College softball team swept their North Eastern Athletic Conference double-header against Penn. St. Abington defeating the Nittany Lions by a score of 6-3 in both game one and game two on Saturday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. With the sweep the Express improve to 12-13 (10-9 NEAC), while the Nittany Lions fall to 4-32 (3-17 NEAC).

NITTANY LIONS TAKE TWO FROM EXPRESS

Aurora, N.Y.- The Wells College softball team fell 6-3 and 9-6 to the Penn. St. Berks Nittany Lions in North Eastern Athletic Conference action Friday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. With the two losses the Express now stand at 9-13 and 7-9 in the NEAC, while Berks improves to 14-17 and 13-5 in the NEAC.

EXPRESS EARN SPLIT WITH COBLESKILL

April 21, 2010

Cobleskill, N.Y.- Lorelei Meier tossed seven innings, allowing one earned run, while striking out four to lead the Wells College softball team to a 5-2 victory in game two of a North Eastern Athletic Conference double-header against the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers on Wednesday afternoon in Cobleskill, N.Y. The Express fell to the Fighting Tigers 9-0 in five innings in game one. The split brings the Express to 9-9 overall and 7-5 in the NEAC, while Cobleskill moves to 5-23 (4-12 NEAC).

Aurora, N.Y.- For the second straight day the softball team has had its games rained out. Today's schedule game against Cobleskill has been postponed and will be made up at a later date yet to be determined.

SOFTBALL SUSPENDED IN BOTTOM SIXTH

Aurora, N.Y.- The Wells College softball double-header against Wilson College has been suspended in the bottom of the sixth of game one due to rain. The Express are currently up 7-5 and will resume play at a later date.

FIVE RUN SEVENTH PROPELS WELLS OVER KEYSTONE IN GAME ONE

April 13, 2010

Aurora, N.Y.- Kelly Cornwell’s (Caledonia, N.Y./Caledonia-Mumford) walk off RBI single to center capped a five run seventh inning for the Wells College softball team as the Express came back to defeat the Keystone College Giants 11-10 in game one of a non-conference double-header on Tuesday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. Wells fell 15-5 in the nightcap to the Giants. With the split the Express improve to 8-8, while the Giants fall to 10-15-1 on the year.

STONE PROPELS EXPRESS TO GAME TWO VICTORY

April 11, 2010

Aurora, N.Y.- Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y./Madison) knocked an RBI double in the bottom half of the sixth inning, giving the Wells College softball team a come from behind, 6-5, victory over rival Cazenovia College in game two of their North Eastern Athletic Conference double-header on Sunday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. The Express fell to Cazenovia 10-0 (5 inn.) in game one. With the split the Express improve to 7-7 (6-4 NEAC), while Cazenovia falls to 9-6 (8-4 NEAC).

SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH MORRISVILLE

Aurora, N.Y.- Aly Mann (Walden, N.Y/Valley) allowed one run on three hits, while striking out four to lead the Wells College softball team to a 2-1 victory in game one of a North Eastern Athletic Conference double-header against Morrisville State College on Saturday afternoon in Aurora, N.Y. The Express fell to Morrisville by a score of 8-6 in the night cap. With the split Wells improves to 6-6 (5-3 NEAC), while the Mustangs fall to 5-19 (5-5 NEAC).

KEUKA BLANKS EXPRESS

April 7, 2010

Keuka Park, N.Y.- The Wells College softball team dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference games to the Keuka College Storm, losing 8-0 (5 inn.) in game one before falling 5-0 in the night cap on Wednesday in Keuka Park, N.Y. The two losses snap a four game winning streak for the Express who fall to 5-5 (4-2 NEAC), while the Storm improve to 8-0 (8-0 NEAC). Kelly Cornwell (Caledonia, N.Y./Caledonia-Mumford) was the only repeat hitter for the Express, finishing with two hits, including a double in game two.

SOFTBALL VS ELMIRA COLLEGE CANCELED

Aurora, N.Y.- The softball game scheduled today for 4:00 p.m. against Elmira College has been canceled due to poor field conditions. A make-up day is yet to be decided.

WELLS MAKES IT A CLEAN SWEEP OF ST. ELIZABETH

March 28, 2010

Morristown, N.J.- The Wells College softball team (3-3) pounded out 16 hits and came back to defeat the College of St. Elizabeth Screaming Eagles (0-16) 6-5 in game one of their afternoon double-header in Morristown, N.J. The Express continued their hot hitting in the knight cap as Lorelei Meier hurled a one hit shutout and added two RBI’s as Wells defeated the Screaming Eagles 10-0 in a five inning, run-rule shortened victory.

RUTGERS-NEWARK TAKES TWO FROM EXPRESS

March 27, 2010

Newark, N.J.- The Rutgers-Newark softball team shutout the Wells College Express 8-0 in game one and used a late rally in game two, to top the Express 11-4 and complete the double-header sweep on Saturday afternoon in Newark, N.J. The sweep drops Wells to 1-3 on the year, while the Raiders improve to 6-6. Amelia Welch led the Express on the day going 3 for 5 from the plate, while Tina Aita paced Rutgers with three hits and five RBI’s.

WELLS SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH CEDAR CREST

March 26, 2010

Allentown, Pa.- Aly Mann (Walden, N.Y./Valley Central) allowed one run, on one hit, as the Wells College Express softball team won their season opener, 3-1, in game one of the Friday afternoon double-header against the Cedar Crest College Falcons in Allentown, Pa. The Falcons bounced back in game two, holding on for a 9-7 win over the Express. Junior Rebekah Coons (Voorheesville, N.Y/Voorheesville) led the Express on the day with a total of three hits, three stolen bases, and one RBI, while Paige Stone (Madison, N.Y./Madison Central) chipped in with two hits and two RBI’s. The Express improve to 1-1 on the season, while the Falcons fall to 5-9.
