COONS AND LOTKOWICTZ EARN ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

Sophomore Rebekah Coons of the softball team, Junior Emily Lotkowictz,  Sophomore Stefanie Miller, Freshmen Gabriella Decker, and Sophomore goalie Liz Barclay all of the women's lacrosse team were named to  NEAC All-Conference teams just released on Thursday.

MANN TOSSES SHUTOUT VICTORY IN GAME ONE WIN OVER PENN ST. BERKS

4/26/09
Aly Mann tossed seven innings of shutout softball, scattering three hits, and the Express defense committed just one error, as the Express went on to defeat Penn St. Berks in game one 1-0 Sunday afternoon in Reading, PA. Game Two was a different story as the Nittany Lions would roll to a 17-1 victory. With the split the Express end their season 3-27, 1-15 in league play, while the Nittany Lions improve to 15-19, 11-4 in league play.

KEUKA STORMS AWAY WITH TWO VICTORIES

4/25/09
The Keuka College Storm swept through the Express on Saturday taking both games of the NEAC conference double-header 11-0 (5 inn.) and 15-2 (5 inn.) at Wells. With the loss the Express fall to 2-26, 0-14 in league play, while the Storm improve to 16-4, 14-0 in league play.

ALGHALI AND WELCH HOMER IN LOSS TO ELMIRA

The Wells College softball team dropped both games of their non-conference double-header to Elmira College 12-3 and 12-5 on Wednesday night in Elmira. With the loss the Express fall to 2-24 while Elmira improves to 13-9.

RIT TAKES TWO FROM WELLS SOFTBALL

The Wells College softball team came up just short in both games of their non-conference double-header to Rochester Institute of Technology  losing 7-2 and 3-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 2-22 on the season while RIT improves to 15-15 on the season.

COONS EARNS SAAC STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

4/21/09
Rebekah Coons has been named SAAC Student-Athlete of the Week. A sophomore on the softball team, Coons recorded a .428 average on nine hits in eight games over the week, including a 3-3 game against SUNY Cobleskill on April 13th. Coons also recorded eight putouts and four assist while playing third base for the Express.

 

LADY LIONS SHUTDOWN EXPRESS

The Wells College softball team dropped both games of their North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) double-header 4-0 and 11-0 to the Penn St. Harrisburg Lady Lions on Sunday afternoon in Aurora. With the losses the Express fall to 2-20 (0-12 NEAC) while the Lady Lions improve to 8-21 (5-5 NEAC).

SOFTBALL SWEPT BY WILSON

4/18/09
The Wells College softball team lost 10-1 and 10-0 to NEAC rival Wilson College on Saturday afternoon in Aurora. With the loss the Express fall to 2-18, 0-10 in the NEAC while the Phoenix improve to 6-4 and 3-3 in the NEAC.

ALFRED SWEEPS SOFTBALL

4/14/09
The Alfred University Saxons bats came alive against the Express as they would go on to defeat Wells 9-0 (5 inn) and 15-0 (3 2/3 inn.) in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon in Hornell. With the loss the Express fall to 2-16 on the season while the Saxons improve to 20-2. Alfred had their pitching, hitting, and defense all in order on Tuesday as they would no-hit the Express in each game, including a perfect game by Sarah Scanlon in game two. The Saxons combined for 24 runs on 22 hits while committing zero errors in the two games.

FIGHTING TIGERS TAKE TWO FROM EXPRESS

The Wells College softball team dropped both games of their NEAC double-header to the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers by a score of 3-1 and 15-9 on Monday afternoon in Cobleskill. With the loss the Express fall to 2-14 (0-8 NEAC) while the Fighting Tigers improve to 4-9 (2-4 NEAC).

SOFTBALL DOUBLES-UP HILBERT

4/9/09
The Wells College softball team steadily defeated Hilbert College 8-7 and 18-9 (5 inn.) in non-conference action on Thursday at Wells. With the victories, the Express improve to 2-12 (0-6 NEAC) while Hilbert drops to 4-11 (0-2 AMCC) on the season. The Wells bats were hot on Thursday afternoon as they would plate 26 runs on 23 hits in the two games.

WILDCATS SWEEP EXPRESS

4/5/09
The Wells College softball team were shutout in both games of their NEAC double-header against SUNYIT, 8-0 (5 inn.) and 16-0 (5 inn), on Sunday in Utica. The two losses drop Wells to 0-12 (0-6 NEAC) while SUNYIT improved to 4-10 (2-2 NEAC). Rebekah Coons, Juli Vibbard, Amelia Welch and Jess Fossett would all collect hits for the Express.

CAZENOVIA SWEEPS WELLS

3/29/09
The Wells College softball team lost 3-2 and 13-6 to Cazenovia College in North Eastern Athletic Conference double-header action Sunday afternoon in Cazenovia. With the loss the Express fall to 0-10 (0-4 NEAC) while Cazenovia improves to 2-6 (2-0 NEAC) on the season.

WELLS DROPS TWO TO D'YOUVILLE

3/28/09
The Wells College softball team dropped both games of their North Eastern Athletic Conference double-header to D’Youville College 8-1 and 8-0 (5 inn.)  Saturday afternoon in Aurora.  The Express were held to five hits in the first game and two hits in the second game.

MORRISVILLE BLANKS EXPRESS

3/26/09
The Wells College softball team was swept by Morrisville State 9-1 (6 inn.) and 5-0 Wednesday afternoon in Morrisville. Aly Mann (Walden, NY), Jess Fossett (Camden, ME), and Beth Cereo (Port Biron, NY) all collected hits for the Express.

The Wells College softball team (0-4) dropped both games of a non-conference double header to the Stevenson University Mustangs (7-7) by a score of 7-0 in the first game and 12-0 (5 inn.) in the second game on Tuesday afternoon in Owings Mills.

WELLS SOFTBALL DROPS TWO AGAINST HOOD

3/16/09
The Wells College softball team (0-2) dropped both games of a non-conference doubleheader to the Hood College Blazers (3-9) by a score of 8-2 in the first game and 19-0 (5 inn.) in the second Monday afternoon.

KRISTINE KELLY NAMED AS HEAD SOFTBALL COACH

Kristine Kelly has been named the Wells College head softball coach for the 2009 season. Kelly returns to Wells after being the assistant coach in 2008. Kelly currently holds a bachelors degree in business administration from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. While at Mansfield Kelly was a four year letter winner on the softball team winning the ECAC championship in 2004.

After graduation Kelly was named assistant softball coach at Mansfield before coming to Wells in 2008.

Kelly attended Afton Central High School where she was a two time NYS Class D Softball Player of the Year, two time state champion in softball, and state champion in field hockey.
