St. Vincent College field hockey team scored with less than two
minutes remaining in regulation as the Wells field hockey team
fell 1-0 in the consolation game of the Wilson College
Independent Field Hockey Championship on Sunday afternoon in
Chambersburg, PA. Martha Knowlan finished with three saves in
the loss. Frostburg took the championship defeating Wilson
College 1-0 in the later game.

Frostburg State University (8-10) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead
after the first half cruising to a 5-1 victory over the Wells
field hockey team (1-13) in the opening round game of the Wilson
College Independent Field Hockey Championship on Saturday
afternoon in Chamberburg, PA. Adrienne Tomao scored the lone
goal for the Express while Martha Knowlan finished with four
saves in the loss.

straight goals before Elisabeth Rollo put the Express on the
board as the Express fell 4-1 to the Highlanders on Monday
afternoon in Houghton.

State Lakers held on for a 1-0 victory over the Wells field
hockey team on Tuesday afternoon at Wells. Martha Knowlan led
the Express with four saves in the loss. The loss drops Wells to
1-10 on the year while the Lakers improve to 6-8.

EXPRESS FALL TO MARYWOOD IN SHOOTOUT

NY- After 100 minutes of play the Marywood
Pacers and the Wells Express field hockey teams remained
tied at 1-1 as penalty strokes would be needed to decide
the contest. The Pacers would go on to defeat the
Express in the shootout (2-1), earning the 2-1 victory
on Thursday afternoon at Wells. Adrienne Tomao scored
the lone goal for the Express while Brittany Beaton
tallied the only goal for the Pacers.

ALBRIGHT ROLLS OVER EXPRESS 5-0

Less
than 24 hours removed from an overtime loss to St. Vincent
College yesterday, the Wells College field hockey team fell 5-0
to the Albright College Lions Sunday afternoon in Reading, PA.
Express goalie Martha Knowlan finished with six saves while
Michelline Moore led the offense with two shots on goal. Kelly
Zepp finished with two goals while Beth Moran had three assists
to pace the Lions who improved to 5-7 with the victory.

EXTRA PLAY LEADS TO EXPRESS LOSS IN OVERTIME

Awarded a penalty-corner with no time remaining in overtime, the
St. Vincent College Lady Bearcats capitalized, as Rachel Hill
drove home a shot giving the Bearcats a 1-0 win over the Wells
College field hockey team on Saturday afternoon at Wells. Martha
Knowlan finished with two saves in net for the Express while
Paige Corneby finished with three shots on goal to pace the
offense. With the loss the Express fall to 1-7 on the season
while the Lady Bearcats improved to 5-6.

HOCKEY TO PARTICIPATE IN AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION FUNDRAISER

Aurora,
NY- The Wells College field hockey team will be
contributing to the Albright College American Heart Association
Fundraiser when they take on the Lions on October 4th
at 1:00 pm at Albright. Albright teamed up with the American
Heart Association to develop a fundraiser that will culminate
with the playing of the field hockey game on the 4th.
Each team purchased t-shirts at $10 a piece to be worn during
warm-ups in honor of those that have passed from the disease and
those that battle heart disease today.

HOCKEY FALLS IN OT

– Nicole Macedonio scored the game winning goal in
overtime as the Keystone College field hockey team defeated the
Express 1-0 on Wednesday at Keystone.
With the victory Keystone improves to 5-2 overall, while Wells
falls to 1-6 overall.

MUSTANGS SHUTOUT EXPRESS FIELD HOCKEY

Walker (Oneida) scored the only two goals of the game as
the Morrisville State Mustangs defeated the Wells
College Express 2-0 in field hockey action Wednesday
evening at Wells. Stephanie Smith (Cedarville) and
Kelsey Pellegrino (Cicero) split time in net recording
two saves each for the Mustangs. With the loss the
Express fall to 1-5 while the Mustangs improve to 3-2.

SECOND HALF GOALS SEND EXPRESS TO VICTORY

Fielding (Queensbury, NY) and Liz Barclay (Laport, PA)
each scored and Madeline Bass (Lemon Grove, CA) finished
with five saves in net as the Wells College Field Hockey
team went on to defeat the Rosemont College Ravens 2-1
Sunday afternoon at Wells. Ravens goalie Chelsea Reeve
finished with eight saves while Elizabeth Kemp scored
the lone goal for Rosemont. The victory snaps a
four-game losing streak for the Express while the Ravens
fall to 0-3 on the season.

WELLS FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO CEDAR CREST

Crest College survived a penalty shot and a late flurry
by the Express offense as they went on to blank Wells
College 1-0 in field hockey action Saturday afternoon at
Wells. Rachel Orlen recorded the shutout victory
finishing with a game high six saves while Emily Seifert
scored the lone goal, snapping a three-game skid for
Falcons. The Express were paced by Martha Knowlan who
finished with four saves. With the loss Wells fall 0-4
while Cedar Crest improves to 1-3.

HOCKEY DOWNED BY HIGHLANDERS

The Wells College field hockey
team’s defense had a strong showing against Houghton, but the
Highlander defense had an even stronger showing, not allowing a
single shot on net the entire game, as they went on to defeat
Wells 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon in Aurora. Freshmen goaltender
Martha Nowlan (Washington, D.C.) was stellar in net facing 15
shots and allowing just two goals. With the loss the Express
fall to 0-1 on the season while Houghton improves to 1-1.
